Hey there people and Happy Saturday to you! I hope you've had a good day. I have had a totally annoying and frustrating one really, and it all boils down to just one thing: the internet.
We have home broadband. It is possibly the worst home broadband I have ever known and would ever wish to know. Talk talk are the providers if you'd like to know and avoid the kind of heartache myself and MHI have to go through on a regular basis.
Some evenings we have to disconnect and reconnect the wireless router up to 5 times in order to keep the connection going. IPlayer regularly freezes mid-play. Downloaded videos and files have to be restarted several times. You know the kind of thing I mean I'm sure.
We got home on Friday to find there was a red light on the router. This was not a good thing. We tried all the usual fixes - turning it off and on again, connecting via ethernet cable. Nothing.
We phoned Talk talk - offers of phone calls from engineers made. Not done. Re-calling them. Still nothing. Wake up this morning - still with the red light. After more shenanigans with switching routers etc it was discovered finally that the problem was with the line, so BT would be fixing that by 5pm on Friday at the latest.
Whch all seems very reasonable until you consider the following:
- I can't live without the internet at all until Friday. Fact.
- I have 400+ GCSE exam papers to mark and am on half term (therefore the perfect time to mark said papers)
So, drastic action had to be taken. We live near to some BT Hotspots which you can sign up to for internt services for a few days. We looked this up, paid our £15 and got connected again this afternoon (we fully expect to be reimnursed by Talk talk due to this extra expense).
This seemed to be the solution to all of the problems we were facing. And it is. Except.... the exam marking software won't work wirelessly. So I can't mark any papers at home at all at the moment.
I am really very angry about all of this - I wanted to get started with my marking and gets loads done this week. I can't. I wanted to be in a position to mark extra papers this year (and therefore earn extra money). That is looking unlikely at best.
Now, at this point I should say my lack of posting yesterday was entirely due to my lack of internet. My apologies. I should also say thanks to those of you who are hanging on waiting for me to get to my gratitude list here. I will get there soon.
But first this - I HATE TALK TALK!!
There. I feel better already.
Let's have some gratitude shall we?
I am grateful for.....
32. MHI. Without whom I might have committed some kind of murder this weekend.
33. having a job. My sister is facing possible redundancy at the moment and nothing could be more upsetting.
34. half term. Thank goodness for a bit of a rest.
Here's hoping you have a great day wherever you are in the world. What things are you grateful for?

I love grateful posts!
What am I thankful for? A family who loves me, 2 children who are the best of friends, a husband who supports me, and a house we call a home.
Stopping by from BF!
Not a totally grateful post but fairly grateful considering the trying circumstances :)
I like your grateful list though.

You came through, Sarah! You poor thing. We pay for top of the range Internet, because we love it and run most of our mUsic and movies through it, but mostly because I work through it and it needs to be fat and functioning. I totally get your frustration over the exam papers. It's just too bad.
Hope you're up and running again soon - definitely by half term break!
x
Oh that sure is frustrating - I hate to admit it but I'd be quite lost without my internet connection. You're so right though, despite all the frustration there's always something to be grateful for. I like your grateful list! Elisa x
Thanks Elisa and Maxabella - sometimes all you need is to know that someone else feels your pain.
In comparison to world peace or famine obviously a bad internet connection is a fairly small fry.
But still... waah!!
Sarah ;)
