Collections: Jewellery

Hey there people and Happy Tuesday to you! I hope all is well in your part of the world - things are going pretty well here I have to say.

Right now I am going through a very inspirationally rich period of my life. I am creating new things all of the time. Whether that means coming up with new ideas for blog series or coming up with new items for my store. I am literally bursting with creativity and I really feel the need to share that feeling.

One little shift I have made in my creative process has been the introduction of the idea of collections. Creating collections rather than just individual pieces has been an enriching experience for me, it really has. Hence the title of my newest blog series!

Today I wanted to introduce you to a relatively new collection I have created: my Jewellery Collection. This is a new area for me to have branched out into, and I am so pleased with the results. What I'd really like to do is tell you some of the story behind the collection and let you see some sneak peeks into how exactly I came up with and executed my ideas.

I started out with a set of digital prints of my artwork. I zeroed in on five designs in particular:

My curious logo.

This kitty cat.

My beautiful butterfly of languages.

My musical life as a rollercoaster.

My musical heart.

I printed these off onto high quality photo paper and trimmed them to size with a lovely crinkled edge. Did I mention before that I love my new purple cow trimmer?!

I then turned my attention to the frames for these lovely prints. I knew exactly what I wanted to do to make these, and exactly what I wanted to use.

I have two packs of Angel cards at home which I love (because they are pretty) but which I no longer use. I decided I would put them to work. Here they are in all their original glory:

The cards read hope, thankfulness, aspiration, generosity and creativity. Perfect!

So, every time you purchase a necklace from me you will be wearing an angel card with you. Your very own travelling guardian angel, wrapped up in a lovely handcrafted package of loveliness! Like a hidden little gift from me to you.

Anyhoo, I knew I needed to create a suitable backdrop for my lovely prints in order for them to really pop, so I set to work using some old manuscript and some vintage wrapping paper I found in an old chest of drawers I thrifted last November. I had been waiting and waiting for a good opportunity to use this paper - now I had that opportunity.

I chalked and rubbed and hairsprayed and trimmed until I had the perfect backdrops. I glued and trimmed and hung and dried my little creations. I punched a heart shaped hole (or rather MHI did as he has stronger thumbs than me!), threaded through my leather and ribbon chains and voila - my first jewellery collection was born!

Here are some samples of my finished products, all styled and ready to sell!

My curious logo, completed with vintage wrapping paper and leather chain.

My breezy butterfly, on a more musical backdrop and with e lovely burgundy ribbon chain.

Life is a rollercoaster on a musical backdrop and wearing a black ribbon chain this time.

Oh, and at the moment each necklace comes with a FREE cabochon ring!

Well, I hoped you've enjoyed this little sneak peek into my creative process and also the insight into one of my newest collections. I love telling the stories behind my ideas, and hopefully you've enjoyed hearing this one!

If you'd like to have a look at my jewellery collection for your self head on over and have a look. Don't forget to use the code CURIOUS for 10% off if you'd like to make a purchase.
